The Therapy Exchange Newsletter 🌿

Hello everyone, I hope you're all doing okay.

Firstly, my apologies as I missed sending a newsletter last month. I got myself a little burnout trying to complete some coursework on my supervision training course and it completely took over. In true ADHD style, I left it until the last minute and then felt very depleted. By the time I surfaced, the month had gone. I'm sure some of you will recognise that particular flavour of chaos! I'm back now, and I'm grateful for your patience.

How are you all getting on out there? I'd genuinely love to know. This time of year can feel a bit unpredictable in terms of client numbers – some of you may be noticing a quieter patch, others might be at capacity and wondering how to breathe. I know it can feel really stressful wondering if the dip is permanent, and I also know the financial worry that comes with that.

One of the things I've found genuinely helpful is learning to trust the ebb and flow of this work – not to fight the quiet spells, but to lean into them a little. Rest, reflect, read, do that CPD you've been putting off. The tide always comes back in.

And if you're running full, please remember to look after yourself too – supervision, peer support, rest. You know the theory; I'm just here to remind you to actually do it.

I'm really pleased to say that we've recently welcomed some new members to The Therapy Exchange ☺️ and I've just finished the latest round of matching. Phew! It's quite a process, but honestly, it's one of my favourite parts – finding good connections between people who I think will genuinely support each other.

🌿 What's coming up in The Therapy Exchange

So, the Onlinevents collaboration I mentioned – it's here! I'm so pleased to finally share the details with you.

If you haven't come across Onlinevents before, they offer a brilliant library of online CPD events and recordings – webinars, workshops, and training across a wide range of therapeutic approaches and topics. As a Therapy Exchange member, you'll be able to access their membership at a reduced cost, exclusively through us.

Onlinevents usually charges Β£99 per year, I negotiated a reduced fee for our members so you'll get 15% off their usual membership – bringing it down to just Β£84 per year.

Here's how it works:

You can upgrade your membership to Therapy Plus, which bundles your Therapy Exchange membership with Onlinevents access. The options are:

  • Therapy Exchange Membership (standard) – your current membership, as it is
  • Therapy Plus (Therapy Exchange + CPD) – your membership plus Onlinevents access, at Β£7/month added to your subscription
  • Therapy Exchange Annual – standard membership, paid annually, one month free
  • Therapy Plus Annual – an annual membership of The Therapy Exchange with one month free + the Onlinevents CPD

Before you sign up, you can take a look here at what Onlinevents provide Onlinevents – there's a lot there, and I think many of you will find it genuinely useful for your CPD requirements.

If you'd like to upgrade to Therapy Plus, just email me here β†’ anne@annelewistherapy.co.uk to let me know and I'll get you set up.

And, I've just set up a Standard Annual Membership option for you – so, if you don't want the CPD membership option of Therapy Plus but would like a free month, just let me know by email here anne@annelewistherapy.co.uk and I'll get that set up for you.

πŸ“š Something I'm currently reading

Love's Executioner by Irvin Yalom

I'm currently rereading this one. If you haven't read it yet, it's a collection of ten absorbing case studies from Yalom's therapeutic work, exploring the deeper existential themes that sit beneath our clients' presenting problems – things like death, freedom, isolation, and meaning. It's beautifully written, thought-provoking, and genuinely one of those books that reminds you why you came into this work. Highly recommend for a quiet evening.

That's all for now, folks!

I hope you have a lovely sunny weekend and, as ever, thank you for being part of The Therapy Exchange 🌿 – I really do appreciate each one of you.

πŸ‘©β€πŸ’» Get involved: If you have anything you'd like me to include in a future newsletter – a book recommendation, a top tip, some CPD you've found brilliant, or a resource you've made or love – drop me a line at anne@annelewistherapy.co.uk. I'd love to hear from you.

🎁 If you invite a therapist friend to join The Therapy Exchange, as a huge thank you for helping build our little community, we'll give you both one month free when they join! πŸŽ‰ Just email me here to let me know and I'll set it all up for you β†’ anne@annelewistherapy.co.uk πŸ’š

Warm wishes,

Anne (she/her) 🌿

The Therapy Exchange 🌿 NEW YEAR Hello everyone, I hope you're all doing okay and staying warm – it feels very wintery out there! I’ve been thinking a lot about what it really means for us to be therapists who also have to run a practice – the client work, the admin, the energy it takes, the gaps we forget to give ourselves… it all adds up. So, as we edge toward the end of the year, I’ve been looking at my own practice and noticing all the little things that need doing: planning January and...

The Therapy Exchange Newsletter 🌿 Hello everyone, I hope you’re all doing okay. We’re now well into February. The new-year energy has usually settled by this point. The decorations are long gone. The light is slowly returning, but it’s still grey enough that getting up in the morning can feel like an effort. And in the therapy room, February can feel… full. By now, many of our clients have moved past the catching us up conversations of January and are back in the thick of their patterns,...

The Therapy Exchange Newsletter 🌿 A gentle start to the year Hello everyone, I hope this finds you keeping well. I also hope you managed to have some kind of break over the Christmas period – although I know it probably already feels a long time ago now. As we move through the start of the year, I’m very aware that this can bring up all sorts of feelings. Hope, uncertainty, motivation, dread – often shaped by how our private practice is going at that particular moment. It’s so easy to...
