The Therapy Exchange 🌿

Hello everyone,

I hope you're all doing okay.

I don't know about you but, I've just finished my last session of the year, and I am ready for a break!

As the year draws to a close, many of us notice a natural slowing down, even if the diary hasn’t quite caught up yet. December often invites reflection: on the work we’ve done, the people we’ve sat alongside, and the quiet moments of growth that don’t always announce themselves.

This work asks a great deal of us. Showing up consistently, holding complexity, staying present with uncertainty, all while managing our own lives in the background. If this year has felt rewarding, challenging, stretching, or full, you’re not alone.

Before the year ends, I want to acknowledge the care, integrity, and thoughtfulness you bring to your practice and to your colleagues in The Therapy Exchange. Much of what you offer will never be measured or seen, but it matters deeply. Thank you for being part of this community and for continuing to invest in your professional and personal growth, and in one another.

As we move toward the new year, I hope you’re able to find moments of rest, nourishment, and perspective; however that looks for you. There’s no need to rush the transition. Sometimes simply allowing ourselves to arrive where we are is enough.

I invite you to gently think of...

  • One moment that reminded you why you do this work
  • One area of your practice that felt stretched and how you might be able to make this easier if it comes up again
  • One moment from this year that reminded you why you do this work
  • One thing you’d like to carry forward into next year

Whatever comes up for you, have compassion for yourself.

I hope you all have a lovely restful, peaceful, end of year.

And, as ever, thank you for being part of The Therapy Exchange 🌿

Warm wishes,
Anne (she/her)

The Therapy Exchange Newsletter 🌿 Hello everyone, I hope you're all doing okay. Firstly, my apologies as I missed sending a newsletter last month. I got myself a little burnout trying to complete some coursework on my supervision training course and it completely took over. In true ADHD style, I left it until the last minute and then felt very depleted. By the time I surfaced, the month had gone. I'm sure some of you will recognise that particular flavour of chaos! I'm back now, and I'm...

The Therapy Exchange 🌿 NEW YEAR Hello everyone, I hope you're all doing okay and staying warm – it feels very wintery out there! I’ve been thinking a lot about what it really means for us to be therapists who also have to run a practice – the client work, the admin, the energy it takes, the gaps we forget to give ourselves… it all adds up. So, as we edge toward the end of the year, I’ve been looking at my own practice and noticing all the little things that need doing: planning January and...

The Therapy Exchange Newsletter 🌿 Hello everyone, I hope you’re all doing okay. We’re now well into February. The new-year energy has usually settled by this point. The decorations are long gone. The light is slowly returning, but it’s still grey enough that getting up in the morning can feel like an effort. And in the therapy room, February can feel… full. By now, many of our clients have moved past the catching us up conversations of January and are back in the thick of their patterns,...
